1. What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is the process of creating and executing digital campaigns that result in cost reduction, greater reach, and a better customer experience for non-profit organizations. This cycle begins with understanding what non-profit organizations need to do to succeed online, continues with the creation of effective digital marketing plans, and then implements those plans as needed. In other words, it’s about spreading your message and making sure people see it from where you want them to see it: on your website or through social media.

2. The Different Types of Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is the process of using electronic media (including online and offline advertising, social media, and website content) to engage individuals and organizations in a marketing campaign. It includes creating a marketing mix that includes digital tools (such as websites, email campaigns, webinars, and social media), as well as traditional marketing methods.

There are three common types of digital marketing: paid search, organic search, and Google AdWords. Paid search uses expensive keywords to target individual customers on Google AdWords. Organic search occurs when a company does not use paid search engines, but finds its ads through other sources, such as directories or personal reviews. Google AdWords is the most commonly used type of digital campaign because it can be set up in minutes and with little effort.

3. The Benefits of Digital Marketing for Non-Profit Organizations

Digital marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach organizations and individuals on a global scale. By using digital channels, non-profit organizations can connect with potential donors, volunteers, and customers in new and exciting ways.

There are many benefits to using digital marketing for non-profit organizations. Here are just a few:

  1. Higher Donation Rates: When donors can easily donate through online donation platforms like DonorCadet or GiveDirectly, they are more likely to donate. This higher donation rate also generates greater spending by non-profit organizations, allowing them to reinvest in programs that are more important to their community.

  2. More Engaged Community Members: In addition to increasing donations and spending, digital marketing helps non-profit organizations establish relationships with their constituents. By being communicative and interacting with their users regularly (through email newsletters, blog posts, social media campaigns), it creates a connection that potential donors will find harder to break away from once they become interested in your organization’s mission.

4. Practice Preventive Maintenance

Ensure that all your electronic devices are password-protected, activate antivirus protection programs on all computer systems, set up the appropriate security settings for online accounts (such as those used by credit card companies), and keep records of all account passwords! Lastly, always consult with your bank about discounts or special offers that may be available for non-profit organizations using their services.
